It's been more than four decades, but Dot Sharp has never had a dull moment handing out burgers and fries. She is the embodiment of what loyalty looks like. Sharp, 84, is the longest-serving employee at McDonald's in Pennsylvania, and she's seen it all. From packing happy meals with Barbies to McFlurries and more.

She started serving McMuffins for breakfast and burgers and fries for lunch in her 30s, and said she has loved Lovin' It ever since. “We started downstairs (at the first location) with the Happy Meal. Whenever they came out with the Barbie and Hot Wheel versions, people would come in and order 50 Happy Meals at once, she said, speaking to locals.

Sharp was present at the invention of Happy Meals in 1979, Chicken McNuggets in 1980, the McPizza in 1986, McFlurries in 1995 and McCafe coffee in 2001.

Sharp, who turned 84 last month, served her last order Friday morning to another McDonald's employee, Dottie Sims, who is also her granddaughter.
According to BISharp, Business Insider said in a statement that McDonald's also gave her the flexibility to work as a single mother.

During her 45-year stint at McDonald's, Sharp held various crew and manager positions, but spent the past nine years working the front window of the drive-thru, a spokesperson for McDonald's franchisee Tri County Management told BI. Her role included greeting customers, taking orders and accepting payments.

On Dot's last day on the job, “the drive-thru line was all the way around the building because so many of her patrons wanted to wish her well,” the Tri County Management spokesperson said.
