Michael Edwards is preparing for a wonderful Liverpool reunion and will find Klopp’s successor
MICHAEL EDWARDS will take full control of Liverpool’s football affairs.
After leaving his job as sporting director in 2022, Edwards will return as head of football.
Edwards will lead the search for outgoing manager Jurgen Klopp in the summer, while he will be responsible for all future transfers.
Richard Hughes will also take over as technical director at Liverpool after leaving Bournemouth at the end of the season.
The reshuffle will also involve Liverpool chief executive Billy Hogan, who has been appointed CEO of FSG International.
He will work on the fast-growing FSG portfolio, which also includes the FSG Boston RedSoxthe Pittsburgh Steelers, RFK Racing and the company’s real estate and sports management divisions.
So while Hogan remains at Anfield, he will hand the football side over to Edwards, who clashed with Klopp towards the end of his first spell.
Julian Ward and Jorg Schmadtke have both left Liverpool since succeeding Edwards.
Edwards will have a mammoth task to find the new boss who can take the Reds forward following the departure of Jurgen Klopp.
The Germany boss was a revelation during his time on Merseyside, winning the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup.

The rumor mill has put forward a number of names to be his successor, including former Liverpool player Xabi Alonso.
Alonso is currently in charge of German side Bayer Leverkusen and is undefeated all season with his side sitting at the top of the Bundesliga.
