Mom sparks heated debate after revealing the long list of household chores she asked her BABYSITTER to do – because as a 'working mom' she doesn't have time to do them herself

There's nothing better than a two-for-one deal – but a working mother's attempt to turn her babysitter into a stand-in housekeeper has sparked a backlash after she revealed the very long list of chores she's been doing for her childcare provider had left behind.

In a now-viral TikTok, Katrina Ivan explained that she works as a teacher and runs a small business on the side, leaving her little time to clean up her messy house.

So in an effort to kill two birds with one stone, Katrina made a long list of the various chores that needed to be done around her house – adding an offer of payment of $3 to $15 for each task – and offered her babysitter the opportunity to 'earn some extra money' by completing everything she chose from the selection.

“Little things have been let go for too long,” the mother wrote in the caption. “If my nanny decides to do this, I will be forever grateful. If not, I'll address it later, as I had planned.”

In the clip, which has been viewed more than 1.5 million times and was posted in mid-December, she then showed off the offending parts of her home, including her dirty refrigerator, the messy toy corner and the disorganized cutlery drawer.

In a note to her babysitter, Katrina assured her that she was

In a note to her babysitter, Katrina assured her that she was “welcome to hang out and watch TV all night,” but mentioned the optional list of chores with associated wages.

“I'm a working mom and some important things have been let go for too long in recent weeks,” she explained in a slide in the TikTok.

In a note to her babysitter, Katrina assured her that she was “welcome to hang out and watch TV after the kids go to bed,” but if she was interested in some extra money, “these jobs are there for the taking.”

Katrina then listed the chores and their associated pay, ranging from $15 to $5, adding a note that her babysitter makes $28.75 an hour, which amounted to $75 for that evening's sitting.

For an additional $15 the babysitter can scrub and clean and reorganize the refrigerator, for $10 she can organize the island bench, organize toys, clean the glass mirrors and windows, scrub and reorganize the cutlery drawer, and sweep and mop the kitchen floor. She could vacuum the couch for three dollars.

''Let me know if you decide to do any of these things and the total amount I owe you in addition to the babysitting fee. Thanks for being here,” she finished the note.

Although some loved the idea – and many ex-babysitters said they wished they had this option when they went babysitting.

'I think this is a great opportunity for your babysitter. You give the choice, and I think that's great,” says someone enthusiastically.

'I've been babysitting since I was 12, I'm 21 now and I do half of it without being asked (wiping the counters, sweeping the floor, putting away children's toys, doing the dishes and tidying the living room). I never get paid extra for it by:,” wrote another.

'I worked as a nanny for years as a teenager and I would have loved this! it gives the OPTION for extra money and also helps you a little bit more!' another wrote enthusiastically.

Others were shocked by the prices the mother proposed.

“No matter how messy your house is, you better double those amounts…” one user commented.

“Those are prices from 1990,” agreed another.

“I think $10 is too cheap for some of these tasks considering the amount of work/size of the mess,” was another's opinion.

In a follow-up clip, Katrina revealed that she had adjusted the pay for some chores after commenter feedback.

She updated the price of vacuuming (now $10) and even interviewed her babysitter, saying she “loves the money and is crushing the jobs we leave for her.”
