LUCAS OCAMPOS has called on LaLiga leaders to take action after a fan appeared to stab him in the butt during Sevilla's clash with Rayo Vallecano.

The “obscene” incident took place in the 33rd minute of the match, as the Sevilla star prepared for a throw-in.

Cameras picked up the fan appearing to poke Ocampos in the buttocks, prompting him to turn around to protest to the fan before calling out referee Hernández Maeso.

After the match, which Sevilla won 2-1 thanks to a Youssef En-Nesyri brace, Ocampos was joined by his club and manager in criticizing the fan's behavior and calling for action.

Ocampos, 29, told Dazn: “You can see what happened in the Pictures. I hope LaLiga takes it as seriously as racism and the like.

“I don't think all Rayo people are like that, because they have always treated us with respect, but there is always one fool.

“I hope it doesn't happen in other areas because if this happens in a women's football match, we know what can happen.”

The Argentinian added: “I kept calm because I have two daughters, I hope this won't happen to them in the future.

“I hope that the action that needs to be taken is taken, and I hope that such a fool does not stain an otherwise very well-behaved group of fans.”

Former Watford manager Quique Sánchez Flores echoed this sentiment, questioning why fans thought they could pull off such acts.

He said: 'You have to ask yourself what is wrong with people's minds, whether they are young or old.

“We have to ask ourselves a huge question about what is happening and where the security is and who we let in and who we don't. I'm very concerned.

“As an individual, it is dangerous for me that scattered spirits go to football stadiums and damage the image of what I have always called football. That seems to me something wild on the one hand, but beautiful on the other.

“Hopefully these things won't repeat themselves.”

A statement from Sevilla said: “Sevilla FC deeply regrets the incident that occurred on Monday in the match against Rayo Vallecano, where our player Lucas Ocampos suffered an obscene and totally inappropriate gesture from a local fan.

“Sevilla FC hopes that appropriate measures typical of the regulations are taken so that such behavior is not repeated on a football field, and this has been transferred to LaLiga.

“These gestures and behaviors should not be allowed in our league if we strive to be the best league in the world.”

Ocampos has made 22 appearances in LaLiga this season, scoring three goals and adding one assist.

The win moves Sevilla three points clear of the relegation zone and ends a winless league run dating back to December 19.
