Mornington Pier: Confrontational moment thugs laugh as helpless elderly man who can’t swim is pushed into water – while police attack 14-year-old boy

Confronting footage shows the moment a gang of thugs are heard laughing after an elderly man who cannot swim was pushed off a pier.

A 14-year-old boy has been charged after allegedly pushing the fisherman, 79, off the edge of Victoria’s Mornington Pier about 11.30pm on Sunday.

In the clip uploaded to social media, the teens can be heard egging each other on before someone pushes the man backward into the dark water below.

The teens can be heard laughing loudly as they run away from the pier, with someone shouting “yes the boys” as they escape.

It is understood the man could not swim and had to be rescued by three other spectators who were on the pier at the time.

The older man had to be rescued by bystanders

A 14-year-old boy has been charged after pushing the fisherman, 79, off the edge of Victoria’s Mornington Pier about 11.30pm on Sunday.

He was not seriously injured in the fall and was not known to the three teenagers.

Victoria Police said a 14-year-old boy from Crib Point had been charged with reckless endangerment and unlawful assault.

He will appear in juvenile court at a later date.

Victoria Police told Daily Mail Australia the investigation was ongoing.
