A woman, 42, was taken to hospital after being arrested over the three murders with injuries described as not life-threatening.

She has now been detained under the Mental Health Act, Avon and Somerset Police said.

Forensic post-mortem examinations last week revealed that the three siblings died from knife wounds.

Chief Inspector Vicks Hayward-Melen said: “We know the public are still trying to come to terms with this terrible tragedy.

“The community remains together and united in their grief over the heartbreaking deaths of Fares, Joury and Mohammed.

“We remain incredibly grateful for the support and kindness shown by the people of Sea Mills and beyond.

“Our thoughts remain with everyone affected by this tragedy and we continue to provide specialist support to the children’s families.

“We have committed throughout our investigation to provide updates and be transparent on all significant developments to help everyone understand what happened, and we will continue to do so.”

The Independent Office for Police Conduct has been notified because there was “police contact earlier this month”.

A spokesperson said: “We have requested a paper referral with further information about the previous contact and once we receive this we will review it to determine if further action is required from us.”

Heartbreaking videos and photos emerged after the murder of Joury and Fares happily playing together.

In one moving clip, seven-year-old Fares was seen singing and playing a red ukulele.

He is accompanied by his sister Joury, who puts a pink fluffy hat on him and dances on the couch.
