Munich Airport resumes operations after heavy snowfall

The airport in Munich limited activities resume Sunday morning after being closed for nearly a day due to record snowfall that disrupted transportation across the region.

About 45 centimeters of snow fell in parts of southern Germany on Saturday, an unusually large amount for early December. largest daily snowfall in Munich in December since records were kept. Officials also closed the train station in that city, and the police advised drivers to stay put of the roads.

Flights began departing again at Munich Airport, Germany’s second-largest air hub, around 6 a.m. local time. But airport officials warned there would still be delays and cancellations.
