NADINE DORRIES: AI bots have also written books about me, so I sympathize with the king

Within hours of King Charles' cancer diagnosis being revealed last Monday, AI-generated books had appeared for sale online, detailing inaccurate, insensitive and invasive claims about his condition.

The palace announced that the king was consulting his lawyers to counter this scandalous invasion of his privacy.

The books, compiled from a range of internet sources, are nothing more than computer-generated lies. The intimate conversations they supposedly describe between the king and his doctors are in fact taken from social media sites and other online sources, where people have chosen to share their experiences with cancer treatment.

You can only imagine how painful it all is for Charles and the rest of the royal family. But he's not the only one.

Very shortly after my own book, The Plot: The Political Assassination Of Boris Johnson, was released last November, I was shocked to discover that Amazon was selling AI-produced biographies of me, which cost £12.50 and contained sensational writing.

One of those titles, Nadine Dorrie's Biography Book: The Untold Story Of The Outspoken Boris Johnson Minister Shaking Things Up, claimed to be a 'captivating masterpiece'.

Needless to say, I wouldn't have approved of any of these fakes. Even after my complaints to Amazon, the “Biography Book” remains available for sale, supposedly without violating the website's guidelines.

There is a photo of a woman on the front, possibly self-generated by AI. She has strangely familiar features, like platinum hair, blue eyes, similar bone structure and prominent cheekbones – but she's definitely not me.

This book claims to reveal the 'multi-faceted layers of Dorrie's life, chronicling her rise to success, political ideology and unwavering determination to make a difference'.

Instead, it's a compilation of newspaper clippings and other sources, pieced together by an AI robot.

It broke my heart when I read an Amazon review from someone who bought it for his wife for Christmas, in addition to his purchase of The Plot.

“The book is A4, very large print and 65 pages,” he wrote.

'Anyone could read this in less than an hour. . . It's clearly a quick money-making opportunity for the publisher. I only gave it one star, because you can't give less.'

I'm shocked to think that people are being duped by this tech-generated waste, believing it to be something I produced or approved.

Consumers, authors – and the King himself – must now be protected from such nonsense, and I hope this is where the royal lawyers will turn their attention.

It's no secret that the reason Jeff Bezos launched Amazon by selling books was because the affluent middle class bought them — and, he reasoned, once they got comfortable buying books on his website, they would for all other uses. at.

Amazon is now the global superstore – and it was built on the sweat and toil of writers.

The company collects up to 65 percent of the price of each of these fake books sold on its platform.

The law needs to be amended. All AI work must be clearly labeled so consumers know what they are buying.

This way we can decide for ourselves whether or not to waste our money – and always choose the real money.

Don't be fooled by senior Labor figures who are trolling the city and claiming they have become the party of growth and prosperity. If they win the next election, things will be back to normal once the champagne corks stop popping. The unions that fund the party will be in control and Starmer, as was the case with so many Labor leaders before him, will have no choice but to submit to their demands. Before long, our economy will be in a much worse state.

It is the worst kept secret in Westminster that Rishi Sunak, who desperately wanted to become Prime Minister, now hates his job. What a miserable situation you are in! There may be early elections.

If Rishi hates it so much, I can't see him staying in Britain for the entire summer break – and the polls are getting worse every month. Better to go now and leave at least part of the group behind to survive and regroup. We now hear that he has no intention of asking Boris for help – even though Boris won two mayoral elections in London when the Conservatives under David Cameron were trailing in the polls.

The Brexit referendum was launched when Boris joined the Leave campaign, and of course he won a stunning majority of 80 seats in the 2019 general election. In the words of a former ministerial colleague: 'Get over yourself, Rishi – and pick up the phone.

Why snowdrops move me to tears

Snowdrops that come to life in the middle of winter

Snowdrops that come to life in the middle of winter

When British soldiers returned from the Crimean War in the 1850s, they arrived with bags full of snowdrop bulbs from the countries in which they had fought. As I walked the dogs through our small village cemetery on Sunday, I noticed that many of the older graves around the cemetery were covered in white blankets of snowdrops.

I unexpectedly found my eyes filling with tears. Graves long forgotten, unkempt, with no living relatives to lay flowers, were more beautiful than more recent additions – including those of my own late husband.

I intend to put that right and have ordered a supply of snowdrop bulbs to plant next year, knowing that when I finally join him there, we will put on a thriving display together.

Hats off to the royal stand-ins

The women in the royal family do what women always do in a crisis: put their heads down and keep the show on. At a conference in Texas last weekend, Fergie – who, like the King, is battling cancer – assured the crowd that “everything will be fine and we will keep fighting.”

Meanwhile, Queen Camilla and Princess Anne (76 and 73 respectively) are working hard to ensure no one is left behind while Charles receives treatment and Kate recovers from her recent abdominal surgery. One look at Camilla and Anne's schedules made me need a nap.

We can consider ourselves lucky to have two such indomitable women among our royal family. I just hope they both get the support they deserve: their health is important too.

Actor Ralph Fiennes is absolutely right: “trigger warnings” in theaters are absurd. Of course the audience should be shocked and disturbed… and laugh and cry at what they see on stage. That's what theater is for, to arouse emotions and take you to another world. Trigger warnings are just as bad as spoilers. Where has all the fun gone in this crazy, woke world?

Taylor Swift made the mammoth trip from Japan to Las Vegas this weekend to watch her boyfriend Travis Kelce play in the Super Bowl, flying across nine time zones. En route, she encountered a faulty flush in the toilet of her private jet. It just goes to show that no matter how rich you are, everyone needs a good plumber.

Don't you wish you were still dating Nicole and Lewis?

Former Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger, dazzled as she accepted her award for Best Performer in a Musical (for Sunset Boulevard) at Sunday's WhatsOnStage ceremony. At 45, she has never looked so hot. I can only imagine that Lewis Hamilton and every other ex are kidding themselves, while her former Scottish rugby player fiancé, Thom Evans, has won the catch of a lifetime.
