A 65-year-old woman was reportedly beheaded after a collision with her neighbor ‘gave her severed head to his friends’ in a local pub.

Rosalina Abing Asilo was confronted by Mario Furton, 48, on January 2 about flowers planted at her home in Bayugan City, Philippines on January 2.

Tensions ran high when Rosalina reportedly shouted back at her neighbor and called him a thief after he complained that the flowers’ thorns were becoming a nuisance.

Furious and embarrassed, Mario went drinking with his friends later that afternoon, and later decided to march to Rosalina’s local store with a sickle.

He allegedly attacked the helpless woman, who was alone at the store at the time, and beheaded her.

Mario then allegedly laughed and returned to present the severed head to his friends at the drinks table, before being arrested by police and confessing.

Police arrived to detain Mario as shocked neighbors crowded to watch the gruesome scene.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Shalom Faye Cornelio, head of Bayugan Police Station, told local media: “The suspect was in the middle of drinking beer with friends when he asked them, ‘Do you want a gift?’ I’ll give you one, just wait a minute before you go to the victim’s store.

He had a bolo, a curved knife commonly used as an agricultural tool in the Philippines, with which he cut off her head.

‘The suspect returned with the woman’s head to the farm building 200 meters away from the shop and said: ‘Here is my gift to you’.

“The cause of the attack was a minor argument over the victim’s flowers,” police added.

“They blocked the suspect’s way and he got angry because they were thorny.”

Speaking to local reporters, a smiling Mario said he “regretted his actions.”

He said: ‘I was hurt because she called me a thief in front of my children while I was trying to talk to her calmly.

“I am sorry for the victim and her family. I only did it because I was ashamed.’

Rosalina’s husband Buenaventura Asilo, 65, said his wife was alone in the shop because he had gone to work at the local fishing pond until 6 p.m.

He said: ‘I had no idea what had happened as we rarely spoke to the suspect.

“My wife and I have no children, so she was alone during the attack.

‘She has four children with her previous husband. I am talking to them so that we can take legal action.’
