Nicki Minaj was the victim of what police call “swatting.”

The 40-year-old hitmaker, who is facing charges of allegedly damaging borrowed jewelry, was visited by investigators at her Los Angeles mansion earlier this month after a report that Nicki’s almost three-year-old son was being abused.

According to TMZLA Sheriff’s Department officers arrived around 6 p.m. and visited the Good Form artist and her husband, Kenneth Petty, 51.

After examining the boy, they determined that the toddler was safe.

Nicki has shared a few photos of her son, whom she calls Papa Bear, with her fans, but keeps him out of the public eye.

She and her husband have not yet revealed his name.

The family was awakened around 3 a.m. that night after calling 911 with a report of a fire in the home.

When firefighters arrived, they found no flames.

It was soon determined that the pair had been subjected to “whacking.”

It’s a term law enforcement uses to describe making a false report to get a massive police response, which could involve an armed SWAT team.

Making a false 911 call is illegal and can result in felony or misdemeanor charges in California, resulting in fines and jail time.

The number of slaps has risen from 400 cases in 2011 to more than 1,000 in 2019, according to estimates by former FBI agent Kevin Kolbye.

The numbers could be higher, as the FBI does not track cases and many police departments do not differentiate between actual calls for help and false reports.
