NY Giants Quarterback Tommy DeVito’s mother still makes his bed

New York Giants quarterback Tommy DeVito has no plans to leave his parents’ house anytime soon.

“The decision was made because this level of football is stressful for a rookie, especially from the quarterback position,” the 25-year-old DeVito said. ESPN reporters prior to the Giants vs. game Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, Nov. 12, adding that his home is also a 12-minute drive from the Giants practice facility. “A lot is happening, there are a lot of meetings. So everything outside of football is arranged by my family.”

The NFL star went on to explain that the decision was a no-brainer because his mother takes care of everything for him.

“I don’t have to worry about laundry, what I’m eating for dinner, chicken cutlets and everything that’s waiting for me when I get there,” he told the outlet. “My mother still makes my bed. Everything is taken care of for me.”

Fellow Giants player Justin Pugh said DeVito is “smart” to live at home.

“That is the best. You know what, smart,” he joked at the time. ‘Saving his money. Genius! That’s the only thing I would say from a financial perspective. Your mother helping with the washing, making sure you get up on time, no distractions, incredible.”

DeVito, who played in Sunday’s game because of starting quarterback Daniel Jones and backup quarterback Tyrod Taylors injuries, was born and raised in Cedar Grove, New Jersey.

After a successful high school football career, DeVito committed to Syracuse University and began playing in the 2018 season. Four years later, he transferred to the University of Illinois, where he was named starting quarterback.

In April, DeVito was signed to the New York Giants as an undrafted free agent, but four months later he was waived and resigned from the practice squad. (According to Sportkeeda(a practice squad is a ‘reserve team’ of players who are available to join the 53-man roster if necessary.)

DeVito first joined his team on the field in October when they took on the New York Jets. Although the Giants ultimately lost, DeVito scored the team’s only touchdown, making the score 10–13.

“I wish it would have turned out better to fulfill those emotions, but the little kid in me is laughing right now that I get to play in an NFL game and really a meaningful NFL game,” DeVito told reporters following the game. “I wish the outcome had been different.”

After his touchdown, DeVito was signed to the Giants’ roster on Halloween.

“I asked God to help me grow and it started to rain,” DeVito wrote via Instagram after the exciting news.
