Olivia Colman, Antonio Banderas, Rachel Zegler and Emily Mortimer are reportedly in talks to possibly join the Paddington cast in Peru, according to Variety.

On Friday, the outlet reported that Colman, 49 — who recently attended the premiere of LA’s Secret Invasion — may play the mother in the film, which will be its third installment.

Banderas, 62, is in talks to play Hunter Cabot, and Rachel Zegler, 22, will play Gina, Cabot’s daughter.

Hugh Bonneville, Julie Walters, Jim Broadbent, Madeleine Harris and Samuel Joslin have already been cast in the film.

Ben Whishaw will return to voice Paddington and Imelda Staunton will once again play Aunt Lucy.

Meanwhile, Mortimer, 51, will replace Sally Hawkins, 47, as Mrs Brown.

Hawkins explained of leaving the franchise, “For me it felt like the right time to hand over the reins to another, and someone can’t get much better than the truly amazing Emily Mortimer, she’s extremely special.”

“She will embody the essence of Mary Brown while still making it her own. But I am and always will be in love with the world of Paddington.

“I already miss my family on and off screen so much – the experience of making the first two films has truly been one of the best and most creative times I’ve had in the film world.”

She added, “They both have given me so much joy. I will keep them so close to my heart forever.”

Last September it was announced that Paddington In Peru would begin filming in London and Peru this year.

The film follows Paddington as he returns to Peru to visit his Aunt Lucy, who lives at the Retired Bears Home.

The journey takes Paddington and the Brown family on an unprecedented journey through the Amazon rainforest and up into the mountains of Peru.

The upcoming film is written by Paul King, who directed the first two films.

For the third iteration of the films, Dougal Wilson will take the lead as director, marking his debut.

Wilson shared, “I am absolutely thrilled to be working with such a great cast on the next installment of the Paddington story.

“I was already a huge fan of our returning actors, but having them join Olivia, Antonio, Emily and Rachel is beyond exciting.”

Anna Marsh, Studiocanal’s CEO, told the publication that “with Dougal at the helm, Paddington in Peru will encapsulate the heart, humor and warm mayhem of the beloved Paddington 1 and 2 films, while Paddington and the Brown family taken in a strange way’. new adventure.’

She added that it “seems only fitting that we welcome some new cast and locations here – a new adventure for all of us.”

Michael Bond, author of the Paddington books, sent his bear back to Darkest Peru – in 1964, when he took a trip to celebrate his great-aunt Lucy’s 100th birthday (an event that occurs in Paddington 2).

On his way home by boat, Paddington dreams that he is being chased by a giant biscuit and must seek refuge with the ship’s doctor.
