New Delhi: Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim announced his retirement from international cricket on Friday. Wasim, who last played for Pakistan in a T20I in April last year, took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to announce his decision to end his eight-year association with the national team.
“Over the past few days I have been thinking a lot about my international career and I have come to the conclusion that now is the right time to announce my retirement from international cricket,” Wasim said in a statement.

The 34-year-old Imad made his international debut in May 2015 against Zimbabwe and has represented Pakistan in 55 ODIs and 66 T20Is. He took 109 wickets and scored 1,472 runs in his international career.

Imad has been a key member of the Pakistan team over the years and was part of the 2017 Champions Trophy winning team. He also played in the 2016 T20 World Cup, 2019 World Cup and the 2021 T20 World Cup.

“I would like to thank the PCB for all their support over the years; it was truly an honor to represent Pakistan. Each of my 121 appearances in the ODI and T20I formats was a dream come true. It’s an exciting time for Pakistani cricket with new coaches and leadership coming in.

“I wish everyone involved the best of luck and look forward to seeing the team excel. I would like to thank the Pakistani fans for always supporting me with so much passion. I now look forward to focusing on the next phase of my playing career away from the international stage,” Wasim told PCB.
