Smyths is to offer children the chance to grab a free Easter egg

But choc fans have the chance to get their hands on a free Easter egg later this month.

Smyths Toys is hosting a nationwide Easter egg hunt at its stores nationwide, giving mums and dads the chance to bag a free gift.

Kids can get a free Barbie or Hot Wheels egg on Saturday, March 30 if they participate in the event.

One egg will be provided per participating child.

The hunt starts at 9 a.m. and continues while supplies last.

Children are given a clue sheet to follow in the shop, and upon completion they receive a free Easter egg.

Customers cannot register for the event in advance.

Instead, they must show up on the day itself.

This may mean that there are queues to get in. So be prepared for this in advance.

And keep in mind that the event can only take place while supplies last, so if you go later in the day, there may not be any free eggs left.

Irish supermarket cuts price of major Cadbury bargains to just 99p

Smyths has over 100 stores in the UK and you can find the nearest one using the search function on the website.

The event takes place every year and last year children had the chance to win free Lego and Disney Mini Brands.

The chain also hosts a major Lego giveaway every year.

In 2019, the giveaway was in honor of the new Star Wars and Marvel Avengers sets.

It also coincided with the brand’s latest Harry Potter Lego, including Knight Bus, Hogwarts Clock Tower and the Triwizard Tournament set.

This year, mobile phone provider Three is offering customers a one-off chance to get a free Cadbury creme egg from WHSmith before April 7.

But there are only 23,000 to redeem and they are going on a first come, first served basis.

Customers simply need to download a barcode via the Three+ app on their phone and then scan it in store.

Meanwhile, The Sun has revealed the cheapest time to buy Easter eggs and when you can get huge discounts.

How can I save on my supermarket shopping?

There are plenty of ways to save money at your grocery store.

You can look for yellow or red stickers on products, which indicate when they are discounted.

If the food is fresh, eat it quickly or freeze it for another time.

Making a list should also save you money because you’ll be less likely to make hasty purchases when you go to the grocery store.

Choosing your own brand can be an easy way to save hundreds of dollars a year on your food bill, too.

This means ditching the ‘best’ or ‘luxury’ products and instead opting for ‘own’ or value-for-money lines.

Many supermarkets have shaky fruit and vegetable programs where you can get cheap prices if they are misshapen or imperfect.

For example, Lidl runs its Waste Not scheme, offering 5kg boxes of fruit and vegetables for just £1.50.

If you’re on a low income and a parent, you could potentially get up to £442 a year in Healthy Start vouchers, which you can also use at the supermarket.

In addition, many municipalities offer supermarket vouchers as part of the Household Support Fund.
