Prime Minister Modi questions MLAs’ loyalty to Congress party, hints at possible switch to BRS

Prime Minister Modi is in the state to campaign for and promote the BJP candidates as the state is set to hold assembly elections on November 30.

Hyderabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched an attack on the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and the Congress, equating them with corruption, appeasement and dynastic politics. He noted that whenever these terms are mentioned, BRS and Congress immediately come to mind. Modi further noted the uncertain loyalty of Congress MLAs, hinting at a possible switch to the BRS, according to a report by news agency ANI.

“Every time someone talks about corruption, appeasement or parivarvaad (dynastic politics), the image of the BRS and Congress immediately comes to mind. Both Congress and KCR are equal sinners in destroying Telangana,” Prime Minister Modi said in Karimnagar on Monday.

Telangana’s confidence lies in the BJP. Whenever anyone talks about development and prosperity, they see the BJP, he added. He further said, “There is no guarantee as to when the Congress MLAs will join BRS.”

“Voting for Congress means voting for the BRS; it means the possibility of KCR returning to power! There is only one way to oust KCR from power: by electing the ‘Lotus’,” he claimed. The Prime Minister said that the Parivarvaadi leaders of these parties are only concerned about their own children and not yours.

“Congress and BRS are alike! The Parivarvaadi leaders of these parties are only concerned about their own children, not yours! They will leave no stone unturned to ruin your children’s future. Their aim is to ruin you, Telangana, and this country,” he added.

The Prime Minister is in the state to campaign for and promote the BJP candidates as the state is set to hold assembly elections on November 30. Besides Prime Minister Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and national BJP president JP Nadda are also holding public meetings. and road shows across the state in an effort to woo voters.

Parties are stepping up campaigning in Telangana

All major political parties in the state, including Congress, BJP and BRS, have stepped up their campaign processes with the last date of campaigning being Tuesday before the state goes to polls on November 30. In the last assembly elections in 2018, the state’s Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), formerly known as Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), won 88 out of 119 seats, accounting for 47.4 percent of the total vote share. The Congress came a distant second with just 19 seats, while the BJP drew a blank.
