New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted the country on the occasion of Diwali festival on Sunday. The Prime Minister wrote: “Wishing everyone a Happy Diwali! May this special festival bring joy, prosperity and wonderful health to everyone’s lives.” According to a report published by Dainik Bhaskar, Prime Minister Modi will celebrate Diwali with soldiers in Jammu. The report further added that the Prime Minister will celebrate Diwali this year with Indian Army soldiers in the Chumbh sector along the Line of Control in Jammu.

Dainik Bhaskar said neither the Army nor the Jammu and Kashmir government had issued any official statement on the Prime Minister’s visit till late Saturday evening, but preparations for his arrival have been completed at the concerned military unit.

Prime Minister Modi is also likely to address the soldiers.

President Droupadi Murmu on Saturday greeted citizens on the eve of Diwali and asked them to bring happiness and prosperity to the lives of the poor and needy by sharing their joy with them.

“Deepawali is a festival of joy and happiness. It is celebrated to mark the victory of light over darkness, good over evil and justice over injustice. People of different religions and beliefs celebrate this festival and spread the message of love, brotherhood and harmony. This festival is a symbol of kindness, positivity and prosperity,” she said.

The festival of Deepawali “enlightens our conscience” and inspires us to work for the good of humanity, the President said.

“One lamp can illuminate many others. Likewise, we can bring happiness and prosperity to the lives of the poor and needy by sharing our joy with them,” Murmu said.
