EVERY time, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet organize special events for ultra-strong Pokémon.

If you and your friends can defeat them in battle, you have a chance to catch one and you don’t want to miss it.

This week you can catch The Mighty Blastoise, a super-strong version of the Kanto starter with a Steel Tera type.

One Blastoise raid appears every day Tuesday March 5, 2024until Tuesday March 12, 2024.

Even if you defeat Blastoise multiple times, you can only catch one, but you can grab the rewards multiple times.

If you want to catch your own Mighty Blastoise in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, here’s what you need to know.

The Mighty Blastoise – Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Blastoise is very defensive and sets up Iron Defense, making physical attackers almost useless.

However, it can’t do too much damage, instead relying on you being cut off and the timer being delayed.

It can still pack a punch if its attacks do super-effective damage, so you’ll want something that isn’t weak to Water, Steel, and Fighting-type attacks.

Blastoise sets up Withdraw on the first turn and then immediately sets up a barrier making it difficult to attack.

After the barrier is broken, it will set up Shell Smashing and Rain Dance, so it might be a good idea to bring your own weather to bypass it.

Here’s the full set from Blastoise.

The Mighty Blastoise – Level 100

  • Nature – Naive
  • Skill – Rain dish
  • Item – No
  • Tera type – Steel
  • Move set – Retreat, Iron Defense, Aura Sphere, Flash Cannon, Hydro Pump, Shell Smash, Rain Dance

Blastoise Counters – Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

The best counter for the Blastoise attack is Gastrodon, a staple of seven-star attacks.

His excellent typing ability allows him to withstand most Blastoise attacks and can hit back very hard with Earth Power.

What makes Gastrodon so strong is its Storm Drain ability, which means it takes no damage from Hydro Pump and also boosts its special attack.

When playing with friends, you can also use Chilling Water to boost your teammates.

It also has support moves, Mud-Slap can lower the accuracy of Blastoise, while Amnesia will boost your special defense, or you can lower the special attack with Skitter Smack.

This is the set we recommend:

Gastrodon – Level 100

  • Nature – Calm down
  • Skill – Drainage pit
  • Item – Shellbel
  • Tera type – Ground
  • Move set – Mud-Slap, Cooling Water, Earth Power, Amnesia/Skitter Smack
