Poonam Pandey and Sam Bombay get into trouble.

Actor-model Poonam Pandey and her husband Sam Bombay have landed in legal trouble after the duo was hit with a ₹100 crore defamation case over her fake death stunt. The case alleges that Pandey and Bombay minimized the severity of a serious illness and concocted a 'deceptive death conspiracy', a Times of India report said.

According to the publication, a First Information Report (FIR) was filed with the Kanpur police by a person named Faizan Ansari. The FIR alleged that both Poonam and Sam conspired to fake her death, downplayed the seriousness of cancer and exploited the sentiments of numerous individuals. He urged their arrest and appearance before the court in Kanpur.

“Poonam Pandey and her husband Sameer Bombay have concocted a false death conspiracy. They also made a joke about diseases like cancer. Poonam orchestrated the drama for publicity and played with the emotions of millions of Indians and the Bollywood film industry,” reads part of an FIR published by TOI.

Further, Ansari, who had filed the FIR, claimed in the same report that he is filing a lawsuit against them for Rs 100 crore. For those unfamiliar, a huge controversy arose when the news of Poonam Pandey's death surfaced online. Pandey's official Instagram account claimed that she died of cervical cancer. The actress's manager also confirmed the news of Poonam's death. Nevertheless, Poonam resurfaced on Instagram a day later and stated that she orchestrated her own demise to raise awareness about cervical cancer.

In an Instagram video, she said, “I'm alive. I didn't die of cervical cancer. Unfortunately, I cannot say that about the hundreds and thousands of women who have lost their lives due to cervical cancer.” She continued to talk about the disease. Sharing the video, Poonam wrote, “I feel compelled to share something important with all of you – I am here, alive. Cervical cancer did not claim me, but tragically it has claimed the lives of thousands of women resulting from a lack of knowledge on how to tackle this disease.
