Postpone NEET MDS 2024: The All India Student's Union (AISU) on Monday wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, urging them to postpone the NEET MDS exam till July 2024. Currently, the National Board of Examiners in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) plans to conduct the NEET MDS exam on March 18, 2024.

“In 2020, NEET MDS was conducted on December 16, 2020, and NEET PG was postponed several times from January to April and further to September 2021 due to COVID-19. The counseling for NEET MDS and NEET PG will be conducted simultaneously. As a result, aspirants who took NEET MDS in December 2020 had to wait until November 2021 for counseling, in line with the postponed NEET PG in September. This year, such a scenario could repeat itself if NEET MDS is not conducted simultaneously with NEET PG in July. Dental students would face a longer period of inactivity from March to September/Aug. covering six to seven months, leading to wastage of their valuable time,” AISU said in a letter.

Several candidates claim that the decision to postpone the NEET PG 2024 exam from March 3 to July 7 is discriminatory, especially when compared to the NEET MDS exam. Originally scheduled for February 9, the NEET MDS 2024 exam has been rescheduled to March 18, 2024, according to a January 20 notification. This represents only an extension of 38 calendar days from the originally scheduled date. The candidates' main request to the authorities was to shift the competitive exam from March to July.
