Several areas in Bengaluru will experience power outage today i.e. December 31, which could throw a wrench into people’s New Year’s Eve plans. Read to know the timing of the power outage and the affected areas.

New Delhi: Nowadays, December 31 is a day to celebrate New Year’s Eve and in every city, people celebrate with their loved ones, more often than not, partying until 12 noon and then ringing in the New Year together. If you live in Bengaluru and have planned a party with your friends and family, there may be a ‘pampering element’ to your party. Bengaluru has been experiencing power outages in specific areas for the past few days and unfortunately there will be power outages today on New Year’s Eve as well. Power outage in Bengaluru: reason, timing

As mentioned earlier, there is a power outage in Bengaluru today, December 31, 2023. The people of Bengaluru will experience the power outage between 10 am and 5 pm, but in some places the outage may end earlier. The affected areas are Nelagedaranahalli, Thigalarapalya, Doddabidarakllu, Andarahalli, Karihobana Halli, Tippenahalli, Nagasandra and in 66/11 KV Vemgal Talagunda stations.

Power outage in Bengaluru: reason

Talking about the reason, power suppliers including Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL) and Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM) have taken up a lot of ongoing maintenance and repair work. These include jungle clearance, maintenance of DTC structures, line maintenance, renovation and modernization, tree pruning, moving cables from above ground to underground, Ring Main Unit (RMU) maintenance, repair of underground cable damage and the 24 ×7 water supply works in Jalasar.

Traffic advisory issued in Bengaluru for New Year 2024

To control traffic congestion in the city, Bengaluru Police has issued traffic advisories for the city.

  • Popular police hotspots such as MG Road, Brigade Road and Residency Road, known for their vibrant nightlife, will become pedestrian-only areas where everyone can ring in the year safely.
  • Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayanand said that to manage traffic congestion, traffic restrictions have been imposed around MG Road, Brigade Road, Museum Road, Rest House Road and Residency Cross Road.
  • He also added that no movement of vehicles will be allowed between 8 pm on December 31 and 1 am on January 1, except vehicles of police and essential services.
