Ex-Prem boss REFUSES to play for Sunderland and withdraws before kick-off

SUNDERLAND chief executive Alex Pritchard caused shockwaves at the Stadium of Light by informing the club he will not play against Stoke.

The Black Cats host the Potters in an important Championship game and the Wearside giants issued a shock statement informing their fans that Pritchard has withdrawn from Michael Beale's side.

The club added that the midfielder expressed his wish to leave “with immediate effect”.

Sunderland announced on their official website: “On Friday morning, Alex Pritchard informed the Club that he was no longer available for selection and subsequently withdrew from today's squad.

“The midfielder also expressed his desire to leave SAFC with immediate effect.

“The Club has no further comment to make at this time.”
