Michael Smith became darts' Prince of Wales when he broke Gerwyn Price's heart and blocked the local whistlers.

Bully Boy crushed local hero Price 6-2 in a demolition job in the Premier League Night One final.

Price, 38, entered the final with the support of the entire Utilita Arena crowd, but he could not provide them with the victory as they all headed home.

Smith, 33, starts his campaign with five points to top the eight-man table and collect the £10,000 win bonus.

More importantly, he silenced the pesky punters who had tried and failed to deter him in the semi-final with Luke Littler.

When Smith threw a key double against the teenage sensation, some idiot in the room was whistling continuously to scare him off.

When he managed to pull off the double and knock out Boy Wonder, the St. Helens hurler turned angrily and made a neck-slashing gesture.

At least when he conquered the Iceman, he didn't react or give him back to those who caused the distraction.
