A source close to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle has hit back at critics after the couple last night launched a new website using their Sussex title.

The Duke and Duchess were accused of using their Sussex title and royal coat of arms for what appeared to be commercial purposes after replacing their Archewell web page with a site called Sussex.com.

But there seemed to be no mention of the phrase 'serving the monarchy' – which featured prominently on their previous website SussexRoyal.com, launched in 2020.

The launch of the 'gauche' new website, which went live last night, fueled speculation that they are looking to revive their media careers. But a source close to the couple dismissed the claims and defended the use of their royal titles.

They said: 'Prince Harry and Meghan are the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. That's a fact. It's their last name and family name.'

Meanwhile, others warned that the web page, which contains biographies of the couple and lists their recent activities, could provoke complaints from the palace.

One source said: 'They are going to have real problems using Sussex. It is a royal title and if there is even a hint of commercialism in it, it will be discontinued. It's just baffling that they can't see how lame it is.”

In addition to Sussex.com and SussexRoyal.com, the couple also have websites for Archewell Productions (archewellproductions.com) and Archewell Foundation (archewell.org).

The new homepage for 'The Office of Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex' went live last night.

It includes brilliant biographies for both Harry, 39, and Meghan, 42, as well as the latest news about the couple.

The Duke is described as a “humanitarian, military veteran, mental health advocate and environmentalist.”

His wife has been praised as a 'feminist and advocate of human rights and gender equality'.

The Sussexes' online rebrand comes amid speculation that they may be looking for new production companies to work with.

Their £18 million deal with Spotify recently came to an end, and there are rumors that streaming giant Netflix may not renew its £80 million contract with them.

The website is managed by 'The Office of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex' and is a 'one-stop shop' for all their activities.

It comes ahead of the couple's trip to Canada for the One Year to Go celebration of the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025.

How the website describes Meghan

The website Sussex.com contains flowery descriptions of the Duke and Duchess

At the event, which takes place between Wednesday and Friday this week, Prince Harry is expected to give a speech in which he will talk about how special the country is to him and his wife Meghan.

Harry will tell the crowd about his fond memories of their time spent on Vancouver Island after leaving their official royal duties in 2019, according to The Telegraph.

The couple are said to have enjoyed their time there as they were free from the presence of the media and the pressures of royal life.

The Duke has previously spoken about how Canada felt like home to him and that “we (he and Meghan) could imagine spending the rest of our lives there.”

Sussex.com is minimalist in design and features a large photo of the couple on the homepage.

It contains links to the Archewell Foundation and Archewell Productions websites, as well as the controversial website sussexroyal.com which was launched in 2020 to mark their decision to step back as working royals.

It is believed that the Duke and Duchess will use the site to share their personal and official updates and keep people informed via the 'News' section.

Their About page reads: “The Office of Prince Harry and Meghan, Duke and Duchess of Sussex is shaping the future through business and philanthropy.

'This includes: the Archewell Foundation, Archewell Productions, patronages, companies and organizations that receive the support of the couple, individually and/or together.'
