Prince Harry’s recent offer to resume royal duties was met with a ‘swift and brutal’ response, writes RICHARD EDEN. And no wonder. William is convinced that brother Harry MUST apologize…

King Charles is keen to restore the frenzy with his youngest son, but Prince Harry can’t get back to his royal duties until he quits money-making ventures and apologises.

That is the view of Richard Eden, who says older brother Prince William is unyielding on the issue.

Eden concludes in the latest edition of his Palace Confidential newsletter that recent events are a preview of what Harry’s life will be like when William is on the throne.

The younger brother, he says, will likely become isolated.

“What I’m hearing is that while the King is keen to mend fences with his youngest son, Prince William is adamant that the Royal Family must adhere to the 2020 Sandringham Summit Agreement with Queen Elizabeth,” Eden wrote.

As the late queen put it, in that agreement, Harry and Meghan “made it clear that they do not want to be dependent on public resources in their new lives.”

Eden believes recent suggestions that the Duke of Sussex was willing to return to a temporary royal role in support of his father were well-founded.

In an effort to help heal the rift within the royal family, King Charles and Prince Harry are said to have had several “warm conversations” since Charles was diagnosed with cancer, according to The Times.

The duke is said to have told friends he would be taking on a royal role while his father was unwell.

Yet the response from sources in Britain, not California, was “swift and brutal,” Eden writes.

‘The King, my colleague Rebecca English was told, was adamant that there was no way back for Harry as a working royal ‘any way’.

‘Now Harry wants to return to royal duties in some form or another, I’m told. But this week he got a taste of what to expect when his brother becomes king: isolation.

‘There is no way the Sussexes will ever rejoin ‘The Firm’ with William on the throne unless they give up making money and apologize for their behavior in recent years.

“I’m not holding my breath.”
