Queen Máxima looked very different than usual on Thursday when she put on a safety helmet and a hi-vis vest during a visit to a waste-to-product company in Eindhoven.

The 52-year-old Dutch royal, famous for her glamorous ensembles, got involved when she took part in sorting waste at Renewi's recycling plant in the Netherlands.

She traded her usual heels for steel-toed work boots and donned a work apron.

She made the practical outfit look stylish as she arrived in a smart orange tweed suit with a belt around the waist.

The Queen was given an explanation of the new treatment plant and spoke to industry experts, according to Renewi, a leading European waste management company.

Renewi wants to convert waste into raw materials such as paper, metal, plastic, glass, wood, building materials, compost and energy.

On Wednesday, Queen Máxima appeared elegantly in navy clothing for a visit to the HerstelTalent Foundation in Zeeland, Middelburg.

Máxima visited the center, which provides recovery assistance to people who are having difficulties due to certain circumstances, to discuss the quality of life in the region.

Máxima was born in Argentina and married into the Dutch royal family in 2002, three years after meeting her husband-to-be in Seville, Spain.
