It comes after a spate of burglaries at footballers’ homes, including Sterling’s current £6million property in Surrey, which was broken into while he was away on World Cup duty.

Worried Sterling, whose Chelsea side take on Liverpool in a mouthwatering Carabao Cup final on Sunday, now wants to increase security at his new home to ensure his family is safe.

A source close to the star told The Sun: “Raheem’s family are everything to him and he can never have a situation where their safety is at risk, it is his absolute priority to prevent that from ever happening.

“By taking control of the design of the space, he can integrate the security elements and build a safe haven to raise his family.

“The nature of his work means he is away a lot, so he needs to make sure his family is safe at home.”

Sterling was forced to fly back from the World Cup Qatar in December 2022 after a home invasion.

The burglary happened shortly before his terrified fiancée Paige Milian, 27, arrived at the house with their two children to find their home had been ransacked.

Paige raised the alarm, but the burglars made off with jewelry and watches.
