There were rumors about the declaration of a national holiday on January 22, but so far nothing of the sort has been declared. This rumor was fueled after a lawyer wrote a letter to the President of India, the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister, requesting him to declare January 22 as a national holiday; the government did not respond to that letter. A letter has also been sent to CJI DY Chandrachud by the Bar Council of India (BCI) requesting him to declare a public holiday on January 22 for all courts across the country; This request was also not responded to.
