Thousands of concertgoers went out to party at techno rave Epik despite a sweltering heatwave, while a large motorcycle figure was stabbed at another festival.

More than 20,000 people came to the Olympic Park in Sydney on Saturday for various concerts.

Ravers were seen in colorful outfits, some wearing revealing dresses as they prepared to party late into the night at the electronic dance festival

The dance music event at Sydney Showground is one of many concerts lighting up the Olympic District.

US rockers Foo Fighters will play to a huge crowd at Accor Stadium, while rapper 50 Cent will also have thousands jumping during his second Sydney show at the Qudos Bank Arena, despite the stifling heat.

Previously, NSW Health published a fact sheet urging concertgoers to try to avoid the sun and take a break from dancing if they are feeling unwell.

The mercury reached 42 degrees Celsius on Saturday afternoon in Homebush, where the concerts are taking place.

The fact sheet warned people not to consume alcohol or drugs while attending the events, as this could have particularly bad consequences during a heatwave.

A cool change is expected to sweep through Sydney this evening, with strong winds gusting up to 90km/h expected to provide much-needed relief for late evening revelers.

“If you dance outside and/or use MDMA, it can be very easy to overheat because the drug interrupts your body’s cooling mechanism, meaning your body will create more heat than it can get rid of,” the fact sheet says.

NSW Health Minister Ryan Park said the government had worked with the organizers of the Western Sydney events and was pleased with the preparations.

“We have worked with organizers to ensure there is free water available and sufficient water for those attending the music festivals,” Mr Park said.

Paramedics are on alert as the concerts get underway, with a 20 per cent increase in the number of emergency calls answered through the NSW ambulance service on Saturday.

NSW Chief Inspector Mark Gibbs said the ambulance service dealt with the increasing number of calls throughout the day and urged concertgoers to protect themselves and each other.

“We ask the community to keep an eye on vulnerable community members,” he said, encouraging festivalgoers to hydrate, wear light clothing and use sun protection,” he told the Daily telegram.

While the concerts were in full swing, one of Australia’s most notorious bikers, Dayne Brajkovich, was stabbed during a brawl outside a music festival in Perth on Friday evening.

Brajkovich was allegedly stabbed in the neck during the event as festival goers left the Ministry of Sound Classic at Kings Parks in the city’s CBD.

He was rushed to hospital and was discharged on Saturday morning with his fingers taped with bandages following the alleged incident.
