Reese Witherspoon CONFIRMS season three of Big Little Lies is in the works with Nicole Kidman… five years after the second part aired
Reese Witherspoon has officially confirmed that a third season of her hit series, Big Little Lies, starring Nicole Kidman, Shailene Woodley and Zoë Kravitz, is in the works.
While attending the 81st Golden Globe Awards on Sunday night with her son Deacon Phillippe, the 47-year-old Oscar winner confirmed she was “working on it a lot” with Kidman, 56.
“We’re working on it,” she told Variety about bringing back the hit HBO series, which received critical acclaim for its writing, directing, acting and soundtrack.
In November, Kidman first teased that Big Little Lies would return for a third season, nearly five years after the final episode aired on July 21, 2019.

She accidentally let slip the secret during a question and answer session at the CME Group Tour Championship Friday in Naples, Florida.
“I loved Moulin Rouge, but I loved Big Little Lies,” she said in a clip shared to Deux Moi’s Instagram Stories.
She continued, “I loved Big Little Lies because it happened at a time in my life when I had my kids and I thought I was going to retire, and then this situation came along where Reese Witherspoon and I were able to do that produce show.”
“And then you all looked at it and made it a huge success,” she concluded. “We’ll bring you a third one, for your information.”
It’s been almost five years since season two of the HBO crime drama was released and ended on a cliffhanger when Zoe’s Bonnie Carlson was about to confess to kicking Kidman’s rapist husband (played by Alexander Skarsgård) pushed.
Earlier this year, executive producer Bruna Papandrea talked about the show Deadline: “I’ve been thinking about it a lot lately.”
“I really believe that a lot of people feel the same way I do, which is at some point they’ll find a way to move on.”
Big Little Lies first aired in 2017, based on the novel of the same name by Liane Moriarty.

The series follows five wealthy women after they become embroiled in a murder investigation.
The cast also includes Laura Dern, Meryl Streep and Adam Scott.
In 2018, Big Little Lies received major nominations, from the SAG Awards and Emmys to Golden Globes, and won a whopping 13 awards.
