Riley Keough Completes Lisa Marie Presley's Memoir Is 'Bittersweet'

Riley Keough talks about a very emotional challenge: completing her late mother's memoirs Lisa Marie Presley.

“It was just something I thought I should do for her and help her complete that project,” Keough, 34, said Variety at the Emmy Awards on Monday, January 15. “It's very bittersweet and I love doing that for her. I feel honored that I can help.”

Then the only daughter of Elvis And Priscilla Presley died in January 2023 at the age of 54, having worked on her book for more than three years. Now, a year later, her eldest child is completing the memoir, and she's happy to continue Presley's legacy.

“It's extremely emotional and also very therapeutic,” Keough continued. “It makes me feel like I'm very close to her. So it's a bit bittersweet and difficult, but also very special.”

The long-awaited memoir will be released on October 15. Lisa Marie previously asked her daughter to help her with the book. After her mother died, Keough began listening to tapes Lisa Marie had recorded.

“Few people had the chance to know who my mother really was, other than that she was Elvis' daughter,” she said in a statement to the newspaper. Associated press on January 11. “I was fortunate to have had that opportunity and working to prepare her autobiography for publication was a privilege, albeit a bittersweet one. I'm so excited to share my mother now, at her most vulnerable and honest, and in doing so, I hope readers will love my mother as much as I do.”

Lisa Marie died after suffering a heart attack at her home in Calabasas, California. Her death was caused by a small bowel obstruction, according to an autopsy report obtained by We weekly in July 2023. She is survived by her mother, Priscilla, 78, Riley, whom she shared with her ex-husband Danny Keoughand twin daughters Finley and Harper, 15, whom she welcomed with ex-husband Michael Lockwood.

After Lisa Marie's death, Riley became the sole administrator of her mother's estate. Priscilla contested the will that gave her granddaughter control of the estate. Us confirmed that the settlement included provisions naming Riley's younger half-sisters as sub-trustees and giving Priscilla a lump sum of $1 million.

January 12 marked one year since Lisa Marie passed away. Riley remembered her mother through a throwback Instagram photo of herself as a child, sitting next to Lisa Marie. She captioned the photo. “❤️.”

Priscillawrote via X (formerly Twitter): “Today is a very solemn day. It's been a year since you passed away and not a day goes by that I don't think of you and miss you. Rest in peace, Lise. You are now in the arms of your beloved father. That alone…gives me comfort. Mom ♥️.”
