In a scene from Roman’s latest documentary, which airs today, Martin asks his son, “So what’s going on, Ro, what’s happening?” as the two garden together.

‘Nothing, I think I’m at that point now where if I’m in the pub or something and something, you know, and someone talks to me about suicide and stuff like that, there’s a part of me where I’ve like, “I don’t want to do this anymore.”

“But I did that to myself by making it public,” Roman explained.

His father replies: ‘You brought it on yourself, but you are doing something incredible. You save people’s lives by talking about it, Ro, so you shouldn’t doubt that.’

Roman then admits one of his fears and says: IIt’s so hard to explain because it’s like… what’s really hard and what I worry about a lot is just that I feel like…

“Do you feel like you’re using Joe to make you more famous?” And to move your life forward?’, his father asks.

“Yes, but it’s not, but I constantly try to feel like I have to prove that,” the presenter admits.

“It’s not that at all,” Martin is quick to emphasize. “You know, when people come up to me on the street and say, ‘We’re so grateful for what Roman is doing. Because my son or my daughter is struggling with their mental health.”
