ROTATING starship-like mansion that rotates 360 degrees in 33 minutes hits the market for $5.3 million
A unique revolving mansion in California has been put on the market for $5.3 million.
The spaceship-like propertylocated on the rolling hills of Mount Helix in La Mesa, San Diego, it offers incredible views that can be enjoyed from all angles thanks to 55 panoramic windows and, of course, the swivel mechanism.
Built in 2004 by former homebuilder and engineer Al Johnstone, the 200-ton structure is mounted on a steel track with 16-inch wheels.
A 1.5 horsepower motor then spins it 360 degrees in just 33 minutes.

Johnstone, who spent $700,000 on construction, previously told Dawn. com: ‘Nobody gets dizzy.
“The fastest he can move is one-tenth of a mile an hour.”
He said the trickiest part of the building process was figuring out “how to stay connected to the utilities while infinitely rotating the house in both directions.” Gas, electricity, water, sewage.’
After some thought, he designed a central non-rotating stainless steel core to house all of these components.
During construction, Johnstone also decked out the house with smart home features that have been updated to make life as easy as possible.
There are automated systems for climate control and lighting, and there is an iris-scanning lock on the front door so no keys are needed.
In terms of living areas, the property offers a gourmet kitchen, a comfortable living room with a fireplace, a dining area, three-and-a-half bathrooms, and four well-appointed bedrooms.
The bed in the master bedroom can also turn.
