Salt Bae will ‘NEVER set foot on a World Cup field again’ after embarrassing himself in Qatar

Celebrity chef Salt Bae has spoken out about his global humiliation at last year’s World Cup final when he bizarrely took to the pitch and chased several Argentine players shortly after they beat France to win the trophy.

Lionel Messi appeared visibly frustrated with the celebrity chef trying to reach out to him as he celebrated winning the one major trophy that had eluded him in his glittering career.

In other chilling scenes, the chef put another player’s medal in his mouth and kept trying to take the Argentina team’s trophy as the celebrated one.

Now the 39-year-old, real name Nusret Gokce, has tried to explain what he was thinking and says he will never set foot on the field at the World Cup again.

‘I love Argentina; I have lived there. I went to support them,” he said The times about why he was at the game.

The 39-year-old showed a complete lack of class and cared more about his moment with the trophy than making the players celebrate.

“Two billion people watched the World Cup… How many people are talking about me? Five billion. Worldwide.’

“I didn’t go into the field to advertise; I was just looking forward to it. Then it was a bit of a surprise. There were at least 1,000 people on the field, but when they showed the video, they saw it was me.

“I never wanted to overshadow anything. I didn’t like the attention. I didn’t kick anyone, didn’t steal anything.’

Images surfaced on social media showing how the Turkish chef is desperately trying to get close to Messi. He puts his hand on his shoulder and encourages him to reluctantly shake his hand before trying to pull it back again.

Salt Bae also approached Messi’s Argentina teammate Angel Di Maria, posing for a video with the winger saying ‘Wow’ as they held the trophy together.

He then struck the precious gold trophy and hit it with a silver ring he was wearing, clattering audibly, causing Di Maria to look beside him in complete bewilderment.

Under FIFA’s rules, only a ‘very select group of people’ are allowed to touch the trophy, including World Cup winners and heads of state – which raises the question of why the Z-lister was allowed anywhere near it.

The governing body said they were investigating how he came onto the field, but have not made any findings public.
