Sam Thompson has revealed he almost quit I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! after just one day in the jungle.

The TV personality, 31, who was crowned King of the Jungle earlier this month, revealed he suffered a panic attack on the first day.

Sam, who spent a week in isolation ahead of the hit ITV show, said he became very ‘overwhelmed’ after meeting his campmates and entering the camp, causing him to have a ‘full-blown panic attack’.

The reality star, who was diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) last year, explained that his “heart was racing really fast” and he “started sweating and feeling nauseous.”

Speaking in his podcast, Staying Relevant alongside best friend Pete Wicks, the former Made In Chelsea star, said: “So when we went in the first day, I had a panic attack. And I went in guns blazing, I was so excited.

‘I was like “oh my god, everyone’s here” like the energy was through the roof and then it suddenly dawned on me what we were doing and I literally sat on my bed and said “oh my god “.

“My heart was going really fast and I was sweating and I really wanted to be sick, and I thought, ‘I’m either really sick and I have to go to the doctor on the first day, and I’m going to go like you’re going to have to pull me out,'” he said, unable to finish his sentence.

‘I had a full-blown panic attack the first day and people were coming up to me and asking ‘why are you so quiet’ and I was like, ‘I don’t know, I don’t know what’s going on. “.

‘It took me some time to acclimatise because I was so overwhelmed by the whole experience. It’s a very strange experience when you first walk in there, really strange, but everyone is so nice.’

It comes after ITV fans called for Sam to be the permanent presenter of This Morning following his debut on Monday.

The I’m A Celebrity winner took center stage alongside Craig Doyle and former campmate Josie Gibson in the show’s Spin to Win segment.

He was also interviewed by Josie and Craig, alongside Strictly Come Dancing winners Ellie Leach and Vito Coppola.

Viewers have insisted the TV star should become the show’s main presenter, with one token: ‘We need Sam to win every day, that’s what I’m talking about’

A third added: ‘I just gotta love Sam’

It comes after MailOnline revealed Sam is in line for a presenting role on This Morning, as ITV welcomes him to their extended family.

Sam won the title of Jungle King during the live final of I’m A Celeb, earning a whopping 56.64 percent of the public votes.

And bosses at the daytime show are hoping to maximize his popularity by signing Sam as their new Showbiz correspondent, given his enthusiasm for television.

During his winners speech after being crowned by Josie Gibson, Sam said taking part in this year’s I’m A Celeb line-up was a ‘dream come true’ and winning the competition was beyond his wildest imagination.

Sources close to the presenter say it would be brilliant to have him back on the channel alongside former Jungle campmate and This Morning presenter Josie. After proving he can’t do anything, Sam would be a fantastic addition to the ITV family.

A TV insider told MailOnline: ‘There’s no one who loves TV more than Sam Thompson, he proved that during his time in the jungle.

Speaking on his podcast Staying Relevant, he said: 'On the first day I had a panic attack. And I went in with all guns blazing, I was so excited and then it suddenly dawned on me what we were doing and I literally sat on my bed and went "Oh my God"

It comes after Sam reunited with campmate and This Morning presenter Josie Gibson as MailOnline revealed the reality star is in line for a presenting role on the hit ITV daytime show.

‘The ITV viewers love him now too and after winning I’m A Celeb in a landslide, it makes sense to keep him on the channel and use his new profile.

‘Producers are keen to get him on the show during days when Josie is presenting and then there’s Marvin Humes. It is important for them to nurture their talent once they have it.”

A source close to Sam added: ‘The world is Sam’s side career-wise, and more broadcasts are certainly part of the plan and a natural progression after the jungle.

“His popularity and personality lend themselves perfectly to both daytime and entertainment formats, possibly a mix of both.

“It will be great to combine new exciting opportunities with his successful existing projects, including his Staying Relevant podcast, which goes on tour in April, and his show on Hits Radio.”

TV bosses hope Sam can follow in the footsteps of the former Jungle Queen and his ex-Made In Chelsea co-star Georgia Toffolo, 29, who landed a role on This Morning after winning I’m A Celeb in 2017.
