Samantha Armytage has shared her devastation following the death of her beloved dog Banjo.

The TV presenter, 47, took to Instagram on Tuesday to share the heartbreaking news with her 255,000 followers as she dealt with the loss.

She shared a photo gallery of herself posing with the six-year-old Labrador Retriever as she looked back on her fond memories with the dog.

A heartbroken Samantha told how Banjo died ‘suddenly’ three weeks ago after allegedly being bitten by a snake near Wagga Wagga.

In a caption, she paid tribute to her pet as she wrote: “How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.” Winnie the Pooh.

‘Three weeks ago yesterday I said goodbye to my sweet boy, Banjo. My heart is completely broken.

‘He was my best friend, my baby and my shadow… and I don’t know what to do without him.

‘He was way ahead of his time – he was staying with dad near Wagga and we think he may have been bitten by a snake.

‘It was very sudden and I would like to thank our vet who fought so hard to save him. We are all so sad.

‘There is still a star in the sky these days. Vale Banjo.’

Her fans quickly took to the comments section to share their condolences with the TV star.

Sending messages of support, they wrote: ‘This is so sad Sam, loved seeing pictures of your beloved Banjo;’

“We are so sorry for your loss Sam. I know he was very dear to you;’ ‘Oh no! Rip Banjo, how sad;’

‘Such a pity. Ever underestimate the pain of losing a beloved pet;” ‘Our hearts are broken;’ “Oh Sammy…I’m so sorry, I’m sending a hug.”

The former Sunrise co-host – who is married to equestrian businessman Richard Lavender – first brought Banjo home in 2016.

Samantha often shared glimpses of her life with her beloved dog on her Instagram page.

Samantha has been enjoying a quieter life in the countryside since quitting Sunrise in March 2021.

They married in a quiet ceremony at his home in Bowral on New Year’s Eve in 2020, which was kept secret at the time.

It was an intimate ceremony with a ‘small number of guests’ due to Covid restrictions, with Richard’s daughters Sasha and Grace and her beloved dog Banjo believed to be in attendance.
