The Duke of York should be sent away to live with Harry and Meghan to solve King Charles’ ‘Andrew problem’, Mail columnists Sarah Vine and Andrew Pierce conclude in their new talk show.

Launched last night, The Reaction is a new YouTube talk show where The Mail’s star writers share their insights and views on the biggest topics of the day – no matter how controversial.

In the first episode, Ms Vine and Mr Pierce debate Prince Andrew’s role in royal life, the Post Office IT scandal, Scotland’s gender self-ID laws and even Jason Donovan’s parakeet smugglers .

The show is released every Wednesday at 5pm on the Daily Mail’s YouTube channel.

During their conversation about Prince Andrew, who this week has found himself again embroiled in the Jeffrey Epstein pedophile scandal following the publication of new legal documents, the two discuss the best way to tackle the ‘Andrew problem’.

Ms Vine said: ‘It seemed things calmed down a bit for Prince Andrew over Christmas. He was even invited along with Fergie to join the royal family at Sandringham, much to the surprise of many people.

‘But with more lurid claims coming in literally every day about his ties to Epstein’s pedophile island, which he of course strongly denies, things could get much worse.’

Mr. Pierce gives viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the “Trouble Prince” from an earlier interview with Andrew, saying he has been guilty of one thing above all else: “terrible judgment.”

The pair debate whether King Charles should fire the Duke from Royal Lodge, the 30-room mansion in Windsor Great Park where he has lived for 20 years and has a lease until 2078.

Mrs Vine said: ‘I think Andrew should be out of sight and out of mind… Living in a big palace in Windsor is not a good idea, I think he should go to Sandringham because Sandringham is in Norfolk which is full of old toffs like Andrew and they can hang out all day having dinners and lunch parties and generally entertaining each other.”

Mr Pierce added: ‘The other thing we can do is send him to Montecito in California, there’s plenty of room in that house, where he can chat with those other two very popular Royals, Harry and Meghan.

‘The only consolation for Andrew is that Prince Harry is competing with him in the unpopularity battle of who is the least popular. I think Meghan is probably the least popular.”

Sarah Vine told Andrew Pierce there is a ‘fine line between retaliation and witch hunt’ as they discussed the Post Office scandal and former CEO Paula Vennells

The pair were also impressed by the biggest story of the week: whether ex-Post Office boss Paula Vennells should keep the bonuses she earned while as CEO overseeing the biggest miscarriage of justice in modern British history.

The calls were made by victims of the scandal, whose lives were destroyed after they were accused of stealing from the post office as postal workers, when in reality a computer error was responsible.

Ms Vine said: ‘I’m a little ambivalent about this because I think it’s right for her to give her CBE back – that was the right thing to do and a good gesture – I’m just a little concerned that there’s a fine line between retaliation and witch hunt.”

But Mr. Pierce replied: “I’m sorry, I don’t feel sorry for her at all.”

He continued: ‘The point is, Sarah, that her bonus was based on figures that were based on a terrible injustice done to these postmasters and postmistresses, many of whom paid hundreds of thousands of pounds to the Post Office, which said it was money they had been scammed out of the system.’

The Reaction is recorded in the Daily Mail’s new state-of-the-art studios in its West London offices and airs on the Daily Mail YouTube channel every Wednesday at 5pm.
