Shah Rukh Khan speaks for the first time about Aryan Khan’s arrest. The actor also reveals the family’s struggles over the years.

Actor Shah Rukh Khan has not given media interviews in the past five years, except during promotional press events. Since his son, he has hardly opened up about his personal life in the public domain Aryan Khan became embroiled in a drug controversy. However, on Wednesday evening he not only made a rare appearance at a media event, but also talked about the difficult times his family has been through in recent years and the lessons he has learned from them. “The past four to five years have been quite challenging for me and my family. I’m sure for some of you also because of Covid. Most of my films flopped. Analysts started writing my death knells, some idiots did the same thing, which is basically the same thing, analysts and idiots. Not something I am really concerned about,” said Shah Rukh Khan after receiving a special award CNNNews18.

“And then some bad and unpleasant things happened on a personal level, which taught me a lesson: ‘be quiet, be very quiet and work hard with dignity’. When you think all is well, and still know in your heart when all is well, suddenly out of nowhere, who… life can come and hit you,” he added, presumably referring to Aryan’s arrest in an alleged drug case in 2021.

SRK then shared his words of wisdom in his cinematic style. “But this is a time where you have to be the hopeful, happy, honest storyteller, and keep doing whatever you’re doing and you think this is an annoying plot twist, this is not the story you’re living. And 100 percent is not the end of the story. Because someone somewhere told me that life is mein filmon ki tarah, anth mein, sad theek ho jaata hai. Aur agar theek na ho, toh anth nahi hai. Photo abhi baaki hai mere dost. And I believe in him because I believe that goodness breeds goodness,” he said.

After a few years of rough phase, Shah Rukh Khan made a big comeback in 2023! SRK returned to the silver screen with Siddharth Anand’s ‘Pathan‘ in January. In the film, SRK donned an action avatar and left everyone impressed. The film broke several records at the box office and managed to make its way into the list of one of the highest-grossing films in the Indian film industry. His film literally ended Bollywood’s dry spell at the box office.

Pathan will always remain special for SRK and his fans as the film marked SRK’s first hit after his four-year sabbatical after delivering a series of duds like Zero And Jab Harry met Sejal.

After pathan, King Khan returned to theaters in September with Atlee directing Jawan. The film once again featured SRK in an action avatar. Like it Pathan, Jawan also managed to strike a chord with the audience. The film collected over Rs 1100 cr. at the worldwide box office. It goes without saying that SRK has had a phenomenal year.

Before SRK concluded in 2023, he released his third film Dunki, his first ever collaboration with Rajkumar Hirani. However, the film received mixed reviews from the audience. It did decent business at the box office with a worldwide collection of Rs 447 crore. Registering a success series in 2023, SRK expressed his gratitude to the makers of Pathaan, Jawaan and Dunki at the event.

He concluded his speech with a word of thanks to his audience. “I want to thank everyone here and the people watching on television. Many of you came to see my films this year, some of you maybe even didn’t like them. But deep down I know you came to support me and my family. So I bow to you. And thank you for cheering up my family, my children, my loved ones and thank you for once again making me the star that I am,” SRK added.
