While it may be tempting to throw everything away and start over, there are more cost-effective ways to get your sparkling showerhead back.

One woman shared her story on the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips Facebook page, uploading a photo of her shower covered in yellow and green grime.

“Recommendations on how to clean this shower head please,” she captioned her post.

Many were skeptical that the item could be saved, and some begged her to buy “a new one.”

But others came to the rescue and recommended some useful products to help remove the limescale.

“Amazing mold and mildew spray and a non-metallic scouring pad,” one person advised.

Meanwhile, a professional cleaner urged her to soak the shower head in a bowl of descaler and then take off.

Someone else suggested: “Viakal – spray on then wrap in a carry bag for 5 minutes. When you rinse, all the limescale will be gone.”

A fourth said she could try putting bleach in water in a bag and leaving the shower head in it.

Another offered a different solution; Place the shower head in a container with white vinegar and scrub it well.

The question sparked debate in the comments section, with many still calling for a cheap shower head replacement.

However, others were quick to emphasize that spending money on a new device may not be an option, especially as the cost of living continues to rise.

“There’s really no need to buy a new one. The landfill is full of stuff like this that just needed to be cleaned,” said one.

“Amazed at the number of people saying buy new when you don’t have to. People just need to know how to clean things properly,” she added.

And the original poster decided to follow this advice and give the shower head a good cleaning.

Revealing a sparkling new shower, she wrote: “Thank you all for your responses from those who chose to help.

“I used Cilit Bang as it was in my cupboard.”

Cilit Bang costs just £3.00 at Poundland, which certainly makes this a cheaper option than buying a brand new shower head.

Simply turn the nozzle to On and spray the foam onto a surface you want to clean.

It only takes a few seconds to work its magic before it is wiped out.

For more stubborn stains, you can let the product sit for five minutes and then rub it away with a scouring pad.

Cleaning Tips and Tips

Here are some tips to help you clean your home like a pro:

This comes as shoppers rush to get their hands on a 35-cent item that removes window mold “in one hour.”

Windowsills can be problem areas due to higher levels of condensation as temperatures drop and nasty leaks around seals – but this hack can help.

The stubborn black stuff can be a nightmare to clean – and if left untreated, it can even become a health hazard.

One cleaning expert also recommended white vinegar as an effective solution because it contains something called acetic acid.

This is a natural and non-toxic alternative to the strong chemicals in bleach.

Tesco sells the white vinegar for just 0.35p for a 568ml bottle – and can be used for a variety of cleaning purposes.

Mrs Hinch fans also swear by the miracle product for removing stains and dirt from glass windows.

A cleaner wrote: “Vinegar in a bowl of hot water, use it to clean the window and then wipe it dry with a paper towel.”

She explained that the mixture should be half warm water and half white vinegar.

The Mrs Hinch fan added that she uses two green Minky glass cloths – one for the vinegar solution and one for drying the windows.

It was also revealed that distilled vinegar can be used to remove mold around the seals and drawers of your washing machine.

Meanwhile, John Cutts, a glass expert at MeandMyGlass.co.uk, suggested another useful product to tackle mould.

“Mold occurs when there is too much moisture in the air. Therefore, investing in a dehumidifier can help solve the problem,” he explains.

“Placing them on a windowsill can effectively absorb moisture and prevent the spread from escalating.”

Meanwhile, a pro shared her trick for removing odors from your sofa before visitors arrive for the holidays – and it only takes seconds.

And three cleaning tips have been revealed that could save you hundreds of pounds on your heating bills and save you time doing the laundry.

Plus a tip to prevent dust from building up on surfaces right after they’ve been cleaned.
