Sir Elton John was spotted sitting with Ed Sheeran and his two sons Zachary, eight, and Elijah, six, to watch Watford play Ipswich Town on Tuesday.

The 76-year-old singer has long had a deep commitment to Watford FC, having become chairman of the club in 1976 and taking on the title of Honorary Life Chairman.

And in support of his beloved team, Sir Elton showed his face unannounced, along with his two children.

The trio were joined by loved pal Ed, 32, as they sat in the very back row to watch the Sky Bet Championship match at Vicarage Road.

But despite the team’s special guest watching in the distance, Watford lost 1-2 to Ipswich Town.

Sir Elton was spotted without his signature glasses that he undoubtedly wears at every event.

However, the Yellow Brick Road singer ditched his iconic accessory to get a clearer view of the competition.

Elton cut a casual figure in a black jacket with large ‘NY’ initials on each side of the garment.

His two children wore festive Christmas sweaters and sported the football team’s scarves.

Ed, Sir Elton and his children looked happy and relaxed as they enjoyed a boys’ night out and braved the cold to watch the match.

After the match, Ed went in to talk to Ipswich Town’s manager Kieran McKenna on film.

The duo shared a hug for the camera crew and couldn’t wipe the smiles off their faces – in joy at their team’s victory.

Elton recently praised the decision to rename a road after his iconic 1973 album as he visited for the first time since the change.

The street runs along the side of Watford Football Club’s stadium, Vicarage Road, and was originally called Occupation Road.

However, a group of fans, The 1881 Movement, petitioned the council to rename the road in tribute to Sir Elton, 76, and it was finally made official last month.

The street has been changed to Yellow Brick Road, as a nod to Sir Elton’s iconic album Goodbye Yellow Brick Road and his recent Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour

New yellow signs have been installed to mark the official name change, which the singer is proud to visit this week.

Elton recently praised the decision to rename a road after his iconic 1973 album as he visited for the first time since the change.

Speaking about the renamed road, he said: ‘Using Yellow Brick Road is a really fantastic, clever way for supporters to play a part in recognizing a time when I was here virtually every day – on this amazing journey with Graham Taylor [former Watford manager].

‘Now that the stand here at Vicarage Road has been named after me, I feel treated very special. And even when I come back here on a non-match day, there is still a buzz for me because this is where I fell in love with football and my club.

‘As I have said many times before, Watford Football Club has done more for me in my lifetime than ever before.’
