Sky Stream is the company’s latest TV offering that relies on Wi-Fi to deliver channels to homes, unlike traditional satellite dishes.

So those who don’t like the look of a satellite dish on the side of their house – or those who rent and simply shouldn’t – can access Sky’s plethora of channels.

Like other Skyboxes, Sky Stream also offers access to streaming apps.

You’ll have to pay extra for most of these, but Netflix is included for free.

The trial period gives you the Sky Entertainment package with over 150 channels, as well as the standard Netflix with ads.

Sky Stream vs Sky Q – How do they compare?

The most obvious difference between Sky Stream and Sky Q is the way they are delivered.

Sky Q uses the traditional satellite dish for live TV and broadband for on-demand shows.

While Sky Stream is completely dependent on the internet to do both live TV and on-demand.

The interfaces look almost identical.

Sky Q tends to have more channels, especially as Sky Stream does away with standard definition channels (where there is HD available) and +1 channels.

A big difference is the recording.

On Sky Q you can record everything you love straight to your box so it will stay there forever.

You can’t technically record on Sky Stream: you can add a show to your playlist and a recording is kept in the cloud, so you always have to be online to watch it.

They also expire after a certain amount of time.

In The Sun’s review when Sky Stream launched in 2022, we said it’s “surprising that a small box packs so much power” – read the full review here.

Sky Stream followed the launch of Sky Glass, which is largely the same except all the technology is built into a dedicated TV.

By comparison, Sky Stream can be connected to any existing TV and is therefore cheaper.

Sky Stream usually costs from £26 per month to subscribe.

People just notice Sky TV’s ‘life-changing’ trick – and say they felt ‘like an idiot’ for not knowing

The trial period lasts one month, so you can cancel and return the box after the period ends.

Or continue to subscribe if you enjoy the experience, with a contract of £26 per month for 18 months or £29 per month for an ongoing contract.

Be warned: Sky recently announced price increases, which will see both plans increase by £2 per month from April 1.

All prices in this article were correct at the time of writing, but may have changed since then.

Always do your own research before making a purchase.
