Soldiers in the elite Household Cavalry — the king's ceremonial bodyguard – have been threatened with “disciplinary action” if caught with them in the stables.
The drinks are popular with troops because they can help combat fatigue.
The orders ban “all drinks containing taurine from Royal Horse Guards stable lines”.
It warned troops of effects on “brain and body.”
A source stressed that the ban only applies to the stables at Hyde Park Barracks, central London.
They said: “It appears to be a risk reduction measure.
“It will not affect other workspaces or accommodations.
