A Spanish influencer who has lived in Britain for more than a decade has criticized the British for their poor hygiene habits.

Carmen Agraz, originally from Andalusia, complained that people in Britain are simply not clean enough.

The influencer, who has 95,700 followers on Instagram, recalled the moment she realized that people in Britain have different hygiene habits to those in Spain.

Carmen explained that when she moved into her new flat in Britain, she was told it had been cleaned by a professional team, but was shocked to find traces of ketchup and hair on the carpet.

When Carmen called her landlord to inquire about the cleaning service, she was stunned to learn that she had to adjust her expectations.

She said: 'They told me my hygiene standards were very high.'

Carmen continued to explain the cases she was angry about.

'I knew the previous tenant who lived here had ketchup, [because] There were marks on the furniture,” she said.

Another thing that amazed Carmen was the British love of carpeting.

When she moved in, she quickly realized that “the previous tenant was a redhead” because she found the matte carpet covered in ginger hairs.

The influencer ended up having to deep clean the place before she could settle in.

She would like to return to her home in Córdoba, Andalusia, but there is one thing holding her back.

She explained in her Instagram bio: 'I wanted to return to Spain but I fell in love with an Englishman.'

It comes after an Australian mother was left stunned after noticing her British friends using plastic buckets to wash dishes.

The confused mum took to a popular cleaning group on Facebook to ask about the 'strange' habit.

'Why do British people use a plastic bowl in the sink?' she asked.

And people were quick to comment, with some noting that it's a custom from the days when homes “had only one sink.”

“I'm Scottish, but we used the basin so we can tip things down the sink without the sink full of water running out,” she said.

Another added that it makes rinsing things easier.

“There's nothing more annoying than doing the dishes and having to rinse something nasty in the wash water,” says one woman.

'Usually when emptying the tea residues from the many cups of tea.'

An Australian woman who had lived in England for years said this is because English people tend to keep their washing machines in the kitchen.

“The sink is considered the laundry tub, people don't think they should use it for washing the kitchen and washing laundry,” she said.

Another said she always did it to “save water.”

“It's to save water, and soapy water is good for plants because it keeps the bugs away,” another added.

And apparently the habit is difficult to break.

“I still use it in Australia, to everyone's amusement.”

Others said Australians should get on board with the hack and use the water in their gardens.

One woman, who uses a gray water hose from her washing machine to water the grass, said she has managed to have green grass despite the last major droughts.

'A drought is forecast after recent years of flooding. We all need to reduce, reuse and recycle more.”

But many others disagree.

'My in-laws in Britain do this and I hate it. Every time we stay there I want to clean up and feel like removing the tub every time. They say it's cleaner and more hygienic than washing in the sink,” one woman added.
