NSW taxpayers shell out for hilarious State of Origin video that’s guaranteed to make Queenslanders FURIOUS

A NSW government department has started a war of words with their Queensland counterparts ahead of game one of the 2024 State of Origin series in Sydney – and Maroons fans won’t be happy.

The stage is set for the first match of the three-game series in Sydney on Wednesday evening, with the Transport for NSW social media team putting the first win on the board for the Blues.

The previous Wednesday morning they released a tongue-in-cheek video introducing ‘a new service just for NSW supporters’.

“For a limited time, use our new ‘station rags’ to wipe your feet before traveling,” they wrote.

‘Made from 100% recycled maroon waste, it will give a brief glimpse into how our @NSWBlues will run over their opposition tonight.’

The video clip shows a Blues supporter wiping his boots with a Maroons jersey as he boards a train.

Queensland Rail shot back almost immediately, writing: ‘Oh, very funny. You won’t laugh when we clean up tonight!’

A short time later, Queensland Rail released a similar video showing a worker using Blues supporter equipment to clean a train station.

The NSW and Queensland police forces have also kicked off their annual Origin talk, with the Queensland Police Service (QPS) social media team picking up the first points.

On Wednesday morning they introduced two of their new police dogs and they all wore Origin gear.

“Who says Queensland are the underdogs?” They wrote.

‘Meet our newest recruits – ARCHIE and ARLO! These police puppies are convinced that the Maroons will make the Blues chase their tails!

“Sorry NSW, looks like you’re in for a night out.”

In the video clip, the pup in the Maroons gear gets the upper hand on the one representing NSW as they have a play fight – leading to NSW Police responding by saying they saw some breakneck tackles in the footage.

The State of Origin series kicks off in Sydney at 8.05pm (AEST) on Wednesday, and Queensland is currently the bookmakers’ favourite.
