Summernats brawl: A wild moment fight breaks out between security and visitors at the Canberra car festival
Wild footage has emerged of security appearing to have a physical altercation with visitors to one of Australia’s biggest car shows.
The brawl took place in Summernats and started at the Exhibition Park in Canberra (EPIC) on Thursday.
About 120,000 people were expected to pass through the gates on Sunday as crowds were drawn by the tougher competition, races and a fireworks show.
However, the footage showed a group of attendees holding back a dozen security guards, who appeared to chase them off a street.
Water bottles and beer cans could be seen being thrown at the guards as tensions increased between them and the many shirtless spectators.
You could hear onlookers cheering at the guards before one man started pushing a guard as an all-out brawl broke out.

The footage showed tensions rising as a shirtless visitor continued to pull away from security guards while shouting at them.
One of the guards could be heard shouting ‘f**k you’ at the man as another onlooker held him back.
The guards pushed forward and began hitting spectators on the heads.
One participant fell to the ground and could barely protect himself when a guard tried to kick him.
A man, wearing an Australian flag as a cape, tried to push one of the guards away from the downed spectator before being restrained by another guard.
The altercation quickly ended when a security guard attempted to prevent other onlookers from flocking to the brawl, with the group of security eventually leaving the area.
ACT police confirmed they are ‘aware’ of the incident and are investigating.
“The investigation into the incident is ongoing and no arrests have been made at this time,” a spokesperson said.
“No further comment will be made while the investigation is ongoing.”

This year’s Summernats is the 36th annual event of Australia’s most famous car show, which started in 1987 and took a year off in 2021 due to Covid lockdowns.
The event brings rev-heads from all over the country to the ACT and with them around $20 million in tourism.
During the four-day festival, more than 2,500 cars will be on display to entertain the public with burnout competitions and other exhibitions.
However, the festival is not controversial after 30-year-old Luke Newsome died after falling from the back of a car at Summernats 2017.
