Meanwhile, her co-host Ben Shepherd wondered if Andi Peters could be to blame and Susanna joked ‘that must be the vodka’, referencing a cocktail-making segment earlier.

Later on Thursday morning’s ITV shows, Susanna joined Lorraine Kelly in her morning session to discuss quitting alcohol.

In the interview, the 53-year-old presenter admitted that she had ‘hangxiety’ and that skin problems prompted her to go ‘alcohol-free’.

Susanna, who quit drinking in 2018, added that while she still “enjoys a few bubbly” on very special occasions, she is “99.9 percent alcohol-free.”

Joining Lorraine in the studio, the presenter said: ‘You’re glowing.’

‘Thanks, a lot of people do dry Jan and you need good motivation to stick to it. People think why not, you need a why to do it,” Susanna began.

She continued: ‘My reason was that I kept getting pimples on my skin and my doctor said this is because alcohol dilates your blood vessels and you get blood flow to the skin. I was prone to pimples, pimples and rosacea. I thought: I don’t just want one.

‘When you get up so early, you really need a clear head. I just noticed that even if I drank something on the weekend, it took longer to flush through my body and I just didn’t like that hangxiety feeling. That slightly tense feeling.

‘It had quite a dramatic effect on my weight and I lost quite a lot. Of course you then replace other things with it! White wine is known as liquid cake, it just has so many calories.”

‘I think you should just do it for a month and see what effects it has on your skin and health’

‘If someone has something to celebrate I still raise a glass, at Christmas I still have bubbles. 99.9 percent of the time I’m alcohol-free.’

Susanna revealed to the Mail in 2019 that she no longer felt ‘hangxiety’ and explained what that meant.

“It was like a buzzy feeling: when you can’t find peace, your body is so excited,” she said.

‘I never drank when I was at work, but on evenings off I would have a few glasses of wine. And Piers and I would have a night out at the Groucho Club in Soho, which was great.”
