Tanuja Mukherjee, Kajol’s mother admitted to intensive care due to age-related issues: report

Veteran Bollywood actress Tanuja was admitted to a hospital on Sunday evening due to age-related issues.

Tanuja Mukherjee, the 80-year-old film star, was reportedly admitted to hospital early today due to age-related complications. The mother of actors Tanishaa Mukerji and Kajol has been admitted to the intensive care unit of a hospital in Juhu. “She is under observation. It goes well with her. There is nothing to worry about,” a source close to PTI told.

Tanuja was married to late director Shomu Mukherjee after being born to actress Shobhna Samarth and filmmaker Kumarsen Samarth. In 1950 she made her big debut with Hamari Beti as a child artist. Ajay Devgn’s mother-in-law waited almost a decade to make her film debut, starring in her mother Shobhna Samarth’s 1961 film Hamari Yaad Aayegi

Among many more famous films include some of her best-known works Do Chor, Baharen Phir Bhi Aayengi, Jewel thief, Anthony Fireringe, Jeene Ki Raah, Rajkumari, Haathi Mere SaathiAnd Only Jeevan Saathi. She is also a well-known actress who has dominated Bengali films in the past.

Tanuja’s role in the spy film ‘Jewel thiefearned her a nomination for the 1967 Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress. She received the Filmfare Award in 1969 for ‘Paisa Ya Pyaar‘s’ Best Supporting Actress.

Tanuja turned 80 in September and her daughters Kajol and Tanisha left her the sweetest birthday wishes. Kajol’s husband and superstar Ajay also wished her on social media. Kajol wrote, “Happy 80th birthday, Mom. I can never thank you enough for everything you have taught me by example and continue to do. I love you, bits and pieces… Eight decades of love, wisdom and laughter! Happy Birthday to my wonderful mother!”

Tanisha wrote, “Happy Birthday, Maaaaa! My warrior, my devi! The one who showed me that age is just a number and that life is for living on your own terms! Here are just a few images that show the many colors that make you you! Generous loving and always ready to take care of everyone!!! I love uuu, my earthly mother (sic).”
