‘The Bear’ Gets a Quiet Season 4 Renewal: Report
The bear has reportedly been renewed for a fourth season.
According to multiple media outlets, FX has quietly greenlit a fourth installment of the Emmy-winning series while season 3 is filming in Chicago. Sources said Deadline And The Hollywood Reporter that both seasons will film back to back.
The quick turnaround is reportedly an attempt to keep the show within its annual release goal and give the cast and crew an opportunity for more feature film work. Series stars Jeremy Allen White And Ayo Edebiri Big screen opportunities have been especially in demand lately, with Allen, 33, set to star in the critically acclaimed 2023 film. The Iron Claw. Edebiri, meanwhile, appeared in comedy Bottoms and lent her voice to it Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, clone high And Spider-Man: About the Spiderverse. Her animated film Inside out 2 will hit theaters later this year.

Rumors started circulating earlier this week The bear was filming additional episodes for season 3 after multiple Chicago outlets reported possible plans to end the series. However, sources say so Deadline that season 5 remains a possibility.

The bearwhich premiered in June 2022, follows Carmy (White), a chef who returns to Chicago to help his older brother Mikey’s (Jon Bernthal) restaurant after his death. In season 2, Carmy teamed up with Sydney (Edebiri) as they attempted to open their own eatery from the ground up in just 12 weeks. Hulu and FX renewed the series for a third season in November 2023, just four months after Season 2 aired.
“The bearthat wowed audiences in its first season only to reach even greater heights in season two has become a cultural phenomenon,” said the president of FX Entertainment Nick Grad announced at the time in a press release. “We and our partners at Hulu look forward to the next chapter in the story of The bear.”
Production on season 3 started in February and all ten episodes will be released in June. Season 3 follows a stellar awards season for the show, which won a total of 10 Emmys, including Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series and Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for White and Edebiri, respectively. Ebon Moss-Bachrach, who plays Richie, received a win for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. The show also earned three Golden Globes, three SAG Awards and four Critics Choice Awards.

“The way Carmy talks at the end of Season 2 — if we can do a Season 3 — I have to assume he’s going to be operating from this kind of loss,” he told the outlet. “He expanded himself, he ruined everything by expanding himself, and he can’t do it again. That’s where he is.”
Cooking, however, will remain the focus: “For the second season, it was so much about putting the restaurant together, so there wasn’t as much cooking,” he said. “But now, in the third season, I think we’re going back to the functioning kitchen atmosphere that we had in the first season.”
