Two Australians have been hospitalized after being repeatedly stabbed by a group of men in Bali, a friend of one of the victims has claimed.

Scarlett Carruthers, from Redcliffe, in Queensland’s Moreton Bay region, said her boyfriend Peter and girlfriend Izeah were viciously attacked outside a mini-mart in Kuta on their last night in the Indonesian country.

“It was our last night in Bali, so we decided to have something to eat and then get ready early in the evening for our flight home the next day, which didn’t go to plan,” she said.

‘My partner and his friend were ultimately stabbed more than 20 times to the face, neck, head, eyes, chest, both arms and ear.’

Peter almost lost his sight and now needs cosmetic surgery, while Izeah suffered so much blood loss that paramedics told him he would be dead if he didn’t get to hospital within 30 minutes.

Peter now faces a $50,000 hospital bill, while Izeah’s medical bills total $15,000.

Mrs Carruthers admitted they were ‘stupid’ and forgot to take out travel insurance with the hospital, saying they cannot complete the operation unless they pay in advance.

She has since had one GoFundMe to help cover medical costs.

“We then have to pay for accommodation and now book new flights home because we missed our original flights,” she said.

‘We know we should have taken out travel insurance, but unfortunately we were stupid and forgot that we didn’t expect something like this to happen.’

Just over $3,500 has been raised so far of a $30,000 goal.

Shocking photos of Peter and Izeah show how serious their injuries are.

One of the men was seen with his eyebrow cut open and his eye blackened and bruised as he lay covered in bandages in his hospital bed.

The other man had blood all over his face and a piece of skin had been cut from his chest.
