A PLAY about the Euros footballer who stuck a burning flame up his bum is getting the big stage treatment.

One-man show Why I Stuck A Flare Up My A*** For England is based on fan Charlie Perry.

He is reintroduced as Billy, whose friends urge him to try increasingly dangerous stunts for the 2021 England v Italy final at Wembley.

Alex Hill, 23, wrote and performed the role of Billy in last year's Edinburgh Fringe debut.

He will bring the show to London's Southwark Playhouse from April 17 to May 4 – ahead of the Euro 2024 kick-off in Germany on June 14.

Alex said: “I had a picture of the man with the bum on my wall for months and kept circling back to it to see how I could make it work.

“He was the man in Leicester Square, but it happened a few times a day.

“It was something so epic, but completely ridiculous.

“In a sense it was theater in itself.

“A lot of guys go to football and put on a huge act because that's their chance to be whoever they want to be every weekend.

“But that kind of behavior has consequences, and that is the basis of the story.

“I read a lot of interviews with a guy with a bum and a lot of people had said that everyone should cut him some slack.

'He is always welcome.

“How we perform the stunt is the magic of theater – you'll have to come along to find out.”

Perry sank ciders and took cocaine for his stunt.

He said afterwards: “It was very irresponsible.”
