TikTok artist creates ‘beautiful’ Mother’s Day gift for people on a budget

With Mother’s Day just around the corner this weekend, Brits across the country are looking for the perfect gifts to celebrate this special day.

This year it falls on Sunday March 10 in Britain, although it will be celebrated later in the year in the US.

Now that it’s not long now, those who haven’t yet found a gift for the mother figure in their lives may feel a tinge of panic.

Flowers, chocolates and jewelry can make the occasion a precious affair, but there are ways to gift things that are full of love and that won’t cost you a cent – and that’s by making them yourself.

One smart TikToker from Italy, posting under the handle @artgogishared a DIY Mother’s Day gift idea that you can make at home.

The video, which has been viewed by over 8.7 million people, all you need is some cardboard, scissors, glue and string.

She starts by drawing a plant pot shape on brown cardboard and cutting it out.

Then the DIYer draws some teardrop shapes on lilac, pink and peach card – three of each.

However, you can choose the colors that you know your mother figure loves.

Once you’ve drawn them, cut them out. It can be annoying, but it’s worth it for the end result.

After this you should have three teardrops of each color – fold two in half and stick them to each side of the third, unfolding the edges to make it more 3D.

This should now look like a tulip. Simply repeat the process with each of your colors and cut out some stems using green card stock.

Glue your new flowers to the top of the stems and once they are together, glue them to the brown plant pot you cut out earlier.

You can then add another message to the inside of the plant pot if you like, with this craft fan that says ‘Dear Mom, Thank you for helping me grow’

If you have a hole punch, make a hole on each side of the plant pot and thread the string through each side, creating a bow in the front.

At this point you should have a cute handmade tulip plant pot, and you can write a message of your choice on the front.

The TikToker in the video opted for a simple ‘Happy Mother’s Day’ with some hearts, drawn in black sharpie.

You can then add another message to the inside of the plant pot, if you like, with this craft fan: ‘Dear Mom, thank you for helping me grow’.

Impressed commenters wrote: ‘Omg beautiful flower’ and ‘Omg it’s so beautiful’.

Others chimed in with: “So pretty” and “Wow, such an easy gift idea!” Everything else is so difficult’.

Another wrote: ‘This is brilliant! I would like to share this in our church. Thank you!’

Meanwhile, one mum added: ‘Oh I hope my daughter makes one for me’.
